Seneca Falls, New York
Dear Oma,
We're all in Seneca Falls now and are excited about beginning the bike ride tomorrow. We'll
be sending you notes along the way so you can follow our adventure.
And let me tell you, it has been one heck of an adventure already. We're looking forward
to the simplicity of riding our bikes after the multiple airline fiascoes we
had getting here. Aunt Karen and Uncle Dave's bikes didn't arrive with them on Saturday but were
fortunately delivered today. Aunt Bev and family had to be rerouted when their airplane engine sucked
up a bird right after take-off (they said it smelled awful!). And I thought I'd never get here.
I lost count of how many times I was on and off planes in Dallas
(they said it was maintenance problems) before finally .....
At one point, my Mom was working on two cells phones at the same time to try to
straighten things out.
But in spite of all that, we had a nice visit in Seneca Falls. Sue Souhan and
Herb and Becky Holden graciously opened their homes for us to gather our wits, assemble
our bikes and rest up for the big ride. Uncle Ross's parents invited us to join them for
dinner, wine and ambiance at Knapp Vineyard to celebrate Fred Reigel's retirement. Thanks
to American Airlines, I was a no-show. Lots of your old friends were there, and said
to say Hello. Here are a couple of shots.
And now we're exhausted and off to bed. Dad is talking about hitting the road by 8 AM,
but I'm thinking 10ish sounds better. We'll see who wins out.
Love, Dave

Seneca Falls, New York
It's gonna be another great adventure. Here is a small picture of today's route,
click it to see a bigger image.
We had a wonderful sendoff bright and early this morning from both family and friends, who, as pictured, thought it'd be
a great photo-op to make a human "CF" in the front lawn. With a little help from our friends, we got official "Dave's Cycle for a Cure" jerseys made to advertise the fundraiser as we ride this year.
Ain't we stylin'?!!
"It looks like this is
going to be our best route yet," says shebeast Aunt Karen, "Seventy four miles of smooth roads, scenic views
and even a tailwind!"
In Baldwinsville Aunt Suz and I needed our gears tuned up, and the bike store
donated their time in support of our cause.
We don't know it's name, but THANK YOU!
We're taking the night off at the Oneida Lake Inn in Sylvan Beach, NY. We had a "homecooked"
pasta dinner (with help from Ragu) but are still going to head out to get some ice cream or Chinese food or something
to get me through the night. Tomorrow's route looks similar to today's, and God willing the fine weather
will be staying with us.
Until next time,
Happy Trails
Love, Dave
