We didn't get even 1/4 mile from the motel when davide got a flat. While he was fixing the flat, the lead group took a scenic tour that added 5 miles and ended up back in the same place. But we finally got going on he correct road and were rolling along until with the sound of a gunshot, Larry's tire blew. Fortunately, Tracie was stopped waiting for us only 100 yards away. Changed tire and we are off. But only 10 miles later, BANG! another blowout. So Larry and Tracie had to take a 2 hour detour to Covington, LA to get new innertubes since there was no bicycle shop in 'Bug'lousa. (We ran into a storm of bugs on the way into this town, hence the nickname.)
Again today, Tracie "Mother Bird" provided exemplary service driving the sag wagon for her "biker chicks" (see photos).
In the tradition of old, the passing from father to son; the yellow jersey passed from Rick to Dave today, as Dave pulled away in the last 20 miles and finished 35 minutes ahead of everyone else. Apparently, the best biking food is Coke Icees.
So tune in tomorrow, to the next chapter of "Are you my mother?"
